But being that I’ve got this new thing about seeing as many concerts and events as I can physically and psychically handle, I felt I must agree to join. Plus, any excuse to get out of work early or not spend another fun-filled evening sitting on my couch at the Crack House swilling beer or wine or gin while watching “spirit crushing mind numbing game shows” or whatever crap reality show I’ve abandoned my social life for, is good for me.
So, I meet B at the TVGasm offices and we head up to Hollywood & Highland to park, eat and catch the shuttle up to the Bowl. First thing I noticed upon arriving, and I apologize for the lack of photos as I just wasn’t in the mood, feeling shitty and a bit hungover from polishing off a bottle of Pinot Grigio watching Big Brother on Sunday, (yes, I know.. I’ve never been confused with being the alpha male), this place is a clusterfuck. The security lines are all jammed up because of checking purses and dumping of bottles, blah blah blah. Takes us 30 hot, uncomfortable, tightly-packed minutes to finally get through the gate.
Finally arriving at our seats, which weren’t that bad actually, the closest I’ve ever had at the Bowl. Right behind the privileged fucks whose great grandfather, while simultaneously stealing the land from the Mexicans, was putting in his will which one of his piece of shit spawn would get the Bowl Boxed Seats.

So, after sitting for about 2 minutes and watching Robert Rudolph and The Family Band, (who rocked it, that MFer can rip up the steel geetar, no doubt), It was time to make the journey down the hill to the beer tent, yo! $8.50 for a 24oz. Heineken. Which is just about what it would be at any other HWood bar, so considering the usual rape of behind the gate concert booze, not too bad.
So, Dave.. Well, I’ve seen him 5 or six times in my life and without a doubt, I enjoyed this show the least. Not that he did a bad job playing. Just too many freakin slow songs and all the new shit was mellow. It was pretty quick into the concert that I came to the stark realization that 2006 Lou isn’t really into this group anymore. Sorry, Dave, but I think I’ve moved on. I know you’ll keep touring like you’ve perpetually done for the past 16 years, but I think you’ve seen the last of Lou Stockton. Nothing personal. It’s not you, It’s me.
On a positive note, though, we had aisle seats and anyone who’s been to a show in L.A. knows, we have the hottest women on the face of the planet and these little pseudo hippie chicks were a’dancin’ everywhere and I bet you can guess where my eyes were trained. So, I can’t say I had a horrible time because even though I have one of the worst memories in the world, I can still remember girls I ogled at shows in 1995 and let’s just say more than a couple of these girls will be travelling the world with me, so to speak. Ha. Pervert, yes. Repentant, No.
So, the night ended, stopped at the 24 hour Carl’s Jr. drive thru on the way home, caught the end of American Chopper with Beauxman and then retired to my bed for the exciting conclusion of BUSTY COPS 2, (Love you Nikki Nova), and off to dream land. All in all, not a bad night, for a Monday.

We get the parking lot, start pounding the beers.. Jamming PJ from the trunk of my shitbox car. And after downing a few beers we realize that there are NO portapotties in the parking lot so after doing my best to not die, I finally ended up “hiding”, in plain site, and pissing in a bush.

Once inside.. everything kind of starts to speed up, you know get blurrisized as I start drinking $15 double Tanqueray Rox.. We have relatively shitty seats in the back and off the to left, but you know that doesn’t matter at all because The Forum is tiny and we are about to enter a time machine to the good ole days of our 90s childhoods.

So, first off we catch the last four songs of Sonic Youth, who rocked pretty good. “The ultimate skater band,” Rex says. Yep. When Eddie and the Boys finally do come out.. It’s ridiculous. The crowd is losing their goddamn minds.. Everyone knows the words and is screaming them to the top of their lungs. It’s definitely more intense than I had prepared myself for.

Honestly, there’s not too much more I can say about the show itself, because I’m not a music writer. I’ll just say this… I’ve been to over 100 concerts and this one cracked the top ten easily, maybe even top 5.
Now, something I do know about and can write about is being incredibly drunk at the show and running around with Rex leaving our mark on everyone else in the place. That’s what we do kids.. That’s what we do.
Down in the smoking area right out side the lobby we were running around proclaiming that we were, “The World Famous Lou & Rex from SorryIGotDrunk.com and if you want to be on the internet, you should get your picture taken with us”.. I think Rex was even shouting “we get 2 million hits a day.. We’ll make you famous.”

In between encores, they weren’t serving booze anymore, which when you have 5 song encores is completely unacceptable. So, we did what anyone else (read: only us) would do. We skipped past security and the gate, ran back to The Stolen Car and filled our pockets with beers. Then we ran back and had to sneak past security to get back in, but we did and we delivered those beers to Laz and Bill. Success.

This is Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin. They rocked it pretty hard. The guy in the middle wore a Cubs hat and ski goggles so that pretty much sealed the deal on their awesomeness.

This was our bartender Stephanie. She had an amazing body and loved us with our rapid fire drinking and ordering and ultimately tipping.

Here’s one round of our drinks in their natual habitat. Jack and Coke for Laz, Tanqueray Rox for yours truly. We ended up having around 10 or so drinks each and are paying for them dearly today. I’ve been drunk all morning at work and it rocks.

This is a stupid motorcycle cop that pulled up and hit the damn valet sign. I stumbled over and took a drunk picture of his stupid stupidness.*

This is Sound Team. They were great. Now when they’re huge next year I have proof that I really did like them before everyone else. And that’s all that really matters, right?

While telling them a story about how everyone thought I was their manager, (he apparently wears the same trendyhipsterfagass glasses I do), somehow Division Day got it in their head that I was important enough to write a note with all their important info on it.
